Weird Henna Coloration - HELP PLEASE

Hi...
I am just starting henna and I have a major ?
I have two different brands of henna, one colors the palm of my
hands beautifully, but on my leg it is faint.

The other colors my hispanic/african american friend a bright orange
when she turns the hair dryer on it for a few minutes. With my (I am
white) if i do nothing the henna does nothing, under the hair dryer,
I got a VERY faint (can barely see it) orange.

What can I do to make the color consistant? Am I doing something
wrong????
