The commercial carriers are not carrying US mail right away. The USPS is truck delivering mail within 600 mile radius from what I have heard on the news. The rest just sits. I would love to contribute but it doesn't seem like there is a way to get things there in any kind of timely fashion. Shanon : I work for a College and the list they provided also included: : : opticare eydrops for the search dogs (you can get them easily in a pet : store) : rubber soled dog boots (their paws are getting cut on the glass and : metal) : anything with caffiene (aka coffee, soda, tea etc.) : non-perishable sandwiches (PB and J etc, no mayonnaise) : medical supplies (bandages, eye drops for people, alcohol, peroxide : etc) : "C" batteries : flashlights : : I don't know where everyone lives however: Iona College which is in New : Rochelle in Westchester has been allowed to send trucks down to WTC to : deliver goods. If you want to drop off a donation they will take it. : Drop it off before noon Saturday or before noon Sunday (they're making : two deliveries). They are also taking volunteers to help pack trucks at : the college, and to help unpack trucks downtown. If you go to volunteer : just mention that Linda Robertello who works in the College Assistance : Program (my office there) sent you and it should be okay. They'll take : donations from anyone.
