Even just looking at this message board you can get a microcosm sense
of what I'm going to say. At first I was truely amazed at the
patriotism and togetherness that this whole turn of events has
triggered here in the U.S. But now I'm looking at it on a larger
scale. I've got friends from all over the world online and so many of
them messaged me or wrote me on that fateful Tuesday to make sure I
was alright. (I live in PA about an hour drive from where the plane
went down) My freind from Canada who has degenerative bone disease
stayed up for 35 hours straight watching the news and keeping me
company online. The next morning, he climbed up his television
antenna tower (not a short thing especailly for him, I've got a pic
if ya want to see) and hung a Canadian and an American flag, both at
half mast in honor of what happened. My friend from Australia was in
shock. Now I hear you talking of such empathy in England that people
are having breakdowns the same as I had. Its touching, its amazing.
Not only is the U.S. uniting and coming together, the free world is
coming together, it makes me believe in the essential goodness of
human beings despite evil being done. What I've seen, the hate crimes
are a small minority of closed minded, and probably raised on racism
people. Some you have to simply feel bad for because they can't see
the good in their fellow man. While I abhor war and the events we
know are to come in short order, the effects it all is having is a
beautiful thing to sit back and watch. I have faith, I have hope, and
God knows I have love for you all, for my country, for mankind one
and all. While I am angry and devistated by what happened, we CANNOT
get angry, we CANNOT retaliate, that would be giving them what they
wanted. I propose forgiveness as hard as that may be to consider, but
if we do not forgive what are we teaching our children? That if
someone hits you, hit them back. That if someone hates you, hate them
back. I will not rejoice in the taking of more innocent lives. I will
not feel pride in watching our nations gather and destroy their
nation if that is what is to come. I will weep for the innocents, for
those who don't know any better, for those who can't find it in their
hearts to love their fellow humans. I urge you all to do the same.
The prayer flag I made last night says this which I consider a good
conclusion to this post, "Grant us the wisdom, the strength, the
hope, and the love to carry on, to collect the pieces, and to forgive
that we may teach our children to live in love.
Blessings, prayers, and all my love,
Sarah B
