Sirius NYC 2002 - UpdatePosted by Kenzi on October 30, 2001 at 15:55:48: Here's some news for all of you interested in attending SiriusNYC. First of all, we have settled on the dates, though they have not yet been finalized. There are a few details to work out before we can set these dates in stone. The dates are March 29-31, 2002. If any of the participants want to come early or stay late they are, of course, welcome to do so. We will help you arrange hotels for you and even point you in the right direction for whatever activities you are interested in. Sirius NYC will be a mixture of classes, planned activities, free time plus some evening fetes involving various combinations of food, music, dancing, drumming, hennaing and merrymaking. There will be little field trips as well as free time to do your own exploring of NYC's eclectic treasures. Classes will take up 2-3 hours each day and there will be time to simply sit around and henna. Catherine will be attending and teaching 2-3 courses, details to follow. Others are welcome to submit class ideas; we will consider them within the available time frame. Lodging in NYC, as you may know, is quite expensive. We are looking into more affordable ways to put a roof over our heads. Inexpensive hotels usually run $60 and that doesn't necessarily cover our need for meeting space and party space. We are looking into renting loft space for the long weekend. This would give up plenty of space for partying, meeting and cooking, and would also provide lots of floor space to spread out sleeping bags. Effort will be made to find a space that has more than one bathroom, and also a space with a couple of large bedrooms. Given all the above details, I would like to hear from those who would like to attend to hear your input on the proposed housing arrangements. I would also like to hear from people confirming their attendance at Sirius NYC. Please use the email above (sirius_nyc@kenzi.com) for all messages relating to this event. Thanks and see you all in March.
