This morning it is darker. A little redder than cinnamon, more like nutmeg. Quite dark for this thin-skinned location. Last time I compared several powders side-by-side on my foot (your samples, Nat), the top was pretty orange with all of them. My soles got deep burgundy in places. Considering this paste left deep nutmeg on top, I bet it would go almost black on soles or palms, or on s/one with tougher skin! Curse the job which does not allow me to play on my palms. I have 4 days off right now, do you think, if I dared, I could scrub & AHA it off by Sunday night?? I have some paste left.

Anyway, I am lucky to have such a cool Mom (she absolutely loves henna), but she is not really close by. I was just on vaca with her. Lucky for her. If she lived near me she'd probably be hennaed from head to toe & considered a freak by her peers.

I wonder what the chemistry is behind this color change. After ripping the paste off with the tape and rubbing it with oil, surely all of the actual henna is gone from the skin's surface. Why does it continue to change?

In a way I wish this henna was not such a generous gift. If I had bought it, I could demand more & more!
