perhaps there is an answerPosted by Catherine Cartwright Jones on June 13, 2001 at 06:54:50: In reply to: To the English Crew posted by Simon on June 13, 2001 at 02:14:55: Everyone has different wrap and seal answers that best accomodatespecific situations .... but .... for fast and impatient: Looks like some of the terpine-rich EO's might be an answer for you. I've been getting fast, intense, dark stains from henna by adding frankincense EO, ravensara EO, cajeput EO, tea tree EO .... and am trying others. If you can make a paste that clings on rather than flakes off (add sugar?) and add the EO's just before it goes in the bottle ..... you may get what you need: a fast, intense stain from an inexpensive home-made paste without sealing or wrapping. Ravensara is at an especially good price on your side of the wet spot ..... My daughter did her first henna this evening, with some 2-day-old accidentally-left-on-my-table henna with cajeput ... and after 10 minutes she scraped the henna off and had a rich bittersweet orange stain. I'll continue tests with the EO's that have high levels of pinene, terpinene, and one or two other likely looking molecules ..... and see how much this can be optimized. One of the suprising things is that terped henna stains very thin skin particularly dark ! I've gotten deep chestnut/coffee on the thinnest skin on the top of my foot or back of my hand, where normally there is pitiful color. The orange fade-down is almost completely eliminated... The dark, dark stain on the back of the hand vanishes quite abruptly, though! On the 4th day, you rinse your hands in the sink, towel them dry, and the henna's GONE!
