This is all really fascinatingPosted by Rupal on July 24, 2001 at 04:49:40: In reply to: highly terped paste = shallow penetration posted by Catherine Cartwright Jones on July 23, 2001 at 23:05:36: Especially since I smell inklings of various Indian mehndi oils inthe tea tree oil that I just bought. It seems like now we have a great deal of control over just what additives we put in the henna; obtaining an unlabeled bottle of who knows what from India always scared me a little! This information is all great because I've gotten such varied results with henna. Sometimes I'll stick henna on overnight and I'll get barely an orange stain on my skin. Other times I have put henna on for a mere half hour and achieved a great stain. I also always wondered what was in the henna I got done in India several years ago. I kept the mehndi on my hand for only two hours after the application was finished - (after one or two lemon-sugar coats I could do anything with my hands, and the mehndi stuck like glue) mind you, the henna application took about 4 hours but . . . After removing the henna I had a brilliant burgundy on my palms and a nice brown the backs of my hands and feet. On the plane ride home to the US that afternoon, my hands darkened to a complete black. The stain remained for about 1.5 weeks and then completely disappeared without a trace. I was mystified not to see it slowly fade away. Ah, the mysteries of henna. ~Rupal
