THe hennotannic acid stains some color in the orange range, but it
oxodises to a darker color. If you look at the skin cells under a
microscope, you can see them darken from their edges inwards as soon
as they're out in the air after their wrap. They continue to darken
for 48 or so hours. The better your henna, the more strongly and
quickly it oxidises in air. Heat darkens it more.
Or, that was my impression watching it under the microscope....
